I was under the impression, as the train has a 2x2 seating arrangement, the seats would be comfortable. Besides, the reclinable seats would have made the journey all the more enjoyable. However, if still, there are issues with comforts, then the days of the double decker trains will be numbered. I have travelled a lot in the 12051/52 Jan Shatabdi. As there is just a single AC chair car, it is next to impossible to get a confirmed ticket. However, I did manage to get a confirmed ticket in the past and to tell you frankly, the seating arrangement was quite comfortable. The 3 x 2 seating arrangement seems good. Now imagine, the seating arrangement of the Jan Shatabdi, 2S class. It is 3*3. In other words, it is like travelling in a general compartment with a reserved ticket. Such compartments are so crowded, that everyone is seating touching one another....
more... Imagine, what would happen if you have a Yokojuna by your side. With regards to the luggage issues, this is one of the biggest problems on the entire IR network. Sadly, the railways have never attempted to address this issue. I travel a lot from Panvel to Thivim. Whenever, I get in the train, be it a the 2S class of the Jan Shatabdi or any other Sleeper, 3A or for that matter any other class, there have been times, where there is just no place under the Lower berth seat to keep the luggage. The Indian railways needs to look into this matter as there are passengers, specially the ones that travel in groups, who carry numerous bags and there have been instances where the no of bags outnumber the passengers on the ticket.
