When was GC completed in SBC GTL section ?

The broad gauge line between SBC-GY was opened in January 1983. This involved the following things -
1) New Broad gauge link between Baiyyappanahalli (BYPL) and Yelhanka (YNK).
2) Gauge conversion of MG line between Yelhanka and Dharmavaram.
3) New BG line between Dharmavaram and Gooty. This BG line ran parallel to the Pakala-Guntakal MG line between Dharmavaram and Kalluru.

Too add to my previous post, the GC also involved a small realignment just before Makalidurga. The MG route used to run through the hilly area with more gradients and rock cuttings. The BG line runs in a relatively straight path at the foot of the hill.

Yes even now the mg alignment of a bridge can be seen at Mkl. Now even the mps in the ghats is increased to 90 kmph post mkl to tdv (earlier it was 75 kmph)
