Somanna announced that 15 railway stations in the Mysore division are being upgraded at a cost of 333 crore, with completion expected by 2025. The number of trains operating in Mysore is currently 80, with plans to increase it in the future.
The government is constructing new railway lines, including an 89 km line between Mysore and Kushalanagara, and a 142 km line in Chamarajanagara. This will benefit locals and travelers and improve railway access to various regions.
To benefit the poor and general public, Memu trains are being introduced in Tumkur, Mandya, Chamarajanagara, and Mysore, with inauguration scheduled for September 27th.
Mysore is included in the circular railway project, connecting Bengaluru and Mysore directly and facilitating metro connectivity. This project prioritizes freight transport, but will also allow passenger travel.
The minister stated that plans are in place to increase the number of women's compartments on trains and to install CCTV cameras, with implementation expected soon.
