The project includes the construction of 17 tunnels, 12 bridges, and 13 new railway stations along the 125 km track, with the first two, योगनगरी ऋषिकेश and वीरभद्र, already completed. Upon completion, the travel time between ऋषिकेश and कर्णप्रयाग will be reduced from 7-8 hours to just 2.5 hours. Additionally, numerous existing railway stations, including Dehradun, Harrawala, Rudki, Tanakpur, Kashipur, and Kotdwar, are undergoing renovation to provide world-class amenities and facilities for passengers. The project is estimated to cost ₹16,216 crore and is expected to significantly enhance Uttarakhand's economic development and create a more accessible and enjoyable experience for visitors.
