The move aims to create a more competitive bidding environment, possibly leading to lower prices and improved manufacturing capabilities. The shift to aluminium-bodied trains aligns with Indian Railways' goal of enhanced operational efficiency and reduced energy consumption. The first sleeper variant of Vande Bharat trains is scheduled for rollout in the first quarter of 2025. The Vande Bharat trains feature advanced seating, an anti-bacterial air conditioning system, and a distributed traction system for faster acceleration and deceleration.
