the rail link to Kashmir. The tunnel, located near Katra in the Reasi District, was built by the Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. for the Northern Railway. The excavation faced challenges due to the presence of a shear zone and high water ingress, necessitating the switch from conventional NATM tunneling to a more robust I-System of tunneling. While 95% of the USBRL project is complete, the entire project is unlikely to be finished before May 2024, requiring an additional four to five months for track laying, electrification, signaling, and other works. The Prime Minister's Office and the Railway Minister are closely monitoring the project's progress.

Excavation mein shear zone aur high water ingress ki wajah se challenges aaye, jiske wajah se conventional NATM tunneling se ek aur robust I-System of tunneling ki taraf switch karna pada. Though USBRL project ka 95% kaam complete ho chuka hai, pura project May 2024 se pehle complete hone ki sambhavna nahi hai, aur track laying, electrification, signaling, aur aur kaam ke liye alag se char se paanch mahine lagenge. Prime Minister's Office aur Railway Minister project ki progress ko closely monitor kar rahe hain.
