Defination of Terminus / Terminal in Rail Context : A "terminus" is a station at the end of a railway line. Trains arriving there have to end their journeys (terminate) or reverse out of the station.
Does our Indian Railway follow this definition or there is any other ?
Sometime...
more... back, I was RF at Howrah and when I saw the board - it was mentioned Howrah Junction. Apparently, this is true, Howrah is Junction also and I thought probably, keyword Junction might be preceding Terminus. Hence, Howrah is always called out Howrah Junction and not Howrah Terminus. Since this is my wild guess, hence not satisfied.
There were many other places I had visited SMNH ,
#CAPE,
#MAQ,
#RMM ,
#PURI and many other, doesn't have any suffix like Terminus or Terminal behind name or the station.
However, there are some places like Chennai or Bombay have station with suffix Central (#MAS or
#MMCT).
Calcutta has one station with suffix Terminal
#KOAA .
Some of the places have a suffix with keyword Terminus -
#CMST #LTT #DR #REWA #PUHT #SNSI #ANVT - which is understood and follows the definition shared at the top.
Looking forward for helping me in understanding. Thank you.
