more... Express is a weekly superfast train that connects Dibrugarh (an important town in upper Assam) and Kolkata, West Bengal. The train runs between Dibrugarh station(Banipur) of N F Railway and Kolkata station(Chitpur) of Eastern Railway. Named after Dihing River, a tributary of the mighty Brahmaputra river and an important river for Dibrugarh district, this train was announced in the Railway Budget 2012/2013.The inaugural run took place on 4th September 2012, from Dibrugarh. The train numbered as 12525/12526; 12526 covers a distance of 1536 km in 28 hours and 35 mins with an average moving speed of 53 km/hr from Dibrugarh(Dbrg) to Kolkata(Koaa), and on return journey 12525 covers the distance in 28 hours and 45 mins with an average moving speed of 53 km/hr.
The train departs Dibrugarh every Tuesday 10:25 hours to reach Kolkata Wednesday at 15:00 hours, and on return journey it departs Kolkata every Wednesday at 21:40 hours to reach Dibrugarh at 2:25 hours Friday. It has a total 21 halts covering important stations: New Tinsukia Junction, Mariani Junction, Lumding, Guwahati, New Bongaigaon, New Jalpaiguri, Kishengunj, Malda Town,Azimganj, Nawadip Dham, Bandel en-route Kolkata and vice versa. Composition of the train consists of AC Two Tier(2A) one coach, AC Three Tier(3A) two coach, Three Tier Sleeper(SL) seven coach, Six General Class Compartments.
This among one of the four trains connecting Kolkata having an EMD loco as a regular link, Others are Saraighat,Shatabdi and Darjeeling Mail,Unlike Them, As they get an EMD of Siliguri Shed, This Train Usually Gets a WDP4B of Tughlakabad Shed near Delhi, Beacuse of Loco Exchange with 12436/12435 Rajdhani Expresses!
