Railway board unhappy with infrastructure at suburban stations
MUMBAI: The railway board has expressed displeasure with the condition of suburban stations, including cleanliness, infrastructure and passenger amenities.
On April 15, board members, including chairman Vinay Mittal, reviewed the on-going projects and future plans of the Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC).
A senior official said, "Mittal was not pleased with the condition of the stations....
more... He pointed out that many stations were built almost 100 years ago and their design has outlived their utility. Mittal indicated that MRVC should improve the existing facilities in the suburban corridors, instead of focusing on expanding the railway network."
