Around...
more... 10.45 AM i was all set to bid adieu to Kumbakonam. So took my bag, ensured i dont mess up the room by littering, locked the room and set out to hand over the keys to the gentleman in the next room. My journey was destined to be in S1 of cholan express vide PNR entry
/blog/post/692939 . The scorching heat and the back to back journey was making me a little tired mentally. So i headed to the unreserved counter and bought an open ticket to Chennai Egmore. The reason is E-tickets conversion is not possible in SR. There was a on part missing.. I did not try the VLR in the station.. So headed there and had some light refreshments in the form of Vada and Coffee. Cholan Express was to arrive late by about 15 mins and arrived on PF1 around 11.13 AM. I headed to the 3A coach which i was sure had a lot of seats and found the TTE before the train left. The TTE a very nice gentleman should be in his late fifties with a smiling face agreed to the upgradation. i was given B2 19 the upper berth by the TTE as per his logic, day journey no one will disturb you and you can sleep well. No excess fare and just as per IR fare was collected from me. The train left at 11.16 AM and headed to MV the next stop. The whole journey refreshed my mind which was filled with a lot of confusions and now happiness was flowing into my heart. I never expected the temple visit to be so much hassle free. This is the time when i got the message from PKV sir about his medical condition. This worried me and i spoke to Mrs PKV immediately and told her someone from calcutta will be of assistance to her in the hospital. I called up BG first and then DB and then Sabya.. All of them were kind enough to meet PKV sir and were updating me about his condition and finally a message from the man himself that he is perfectly alright.. That was a great relief to me. by then cholan express was cruising through the country side which was lush and green. The train by now was running at an average of 40 mins delay. The run between Panruti and villupuram was great and made up about 30 mins and was a 10 min delay. There was a crew change here. The alco now started breathing and picked up good speed not before it had to be stopped at Mailam station for about 30 mins just for Vaigai express to cross. Well after that though the speed was ok the train couldnt make up any lost time. Finally we entered TBM at 5.30 PM and i alighted there coz my residence is easily accessible from there. A bus from tambaram to my house in Ekkatuthangal took only 20 mins and it was HOME SWEET HOME...
