The Indian government has invested significantly in Maharashtra's railway infrastructure, including 132 station development projects, flyovers, the bullet train, and various railway corridors. The total investment since 2014 amounts to 1.64 lakh crore rupees. The minister also highlighted the 'Namo Rapid Train' project, which aims to provide faster travel between cities within a 100-200 kilometer radius. The first such train has been launched between Delhi and Meerut. To strengthen the railway network, projects are underway to connect the Central Railway to the Western and Southern Railways. These include detailed project reports for the Nashik-Dahanu and Nashik-Shirdi-Jalgaon-Udhana routes. The Nashik-Shirdi route will directly connect Nashik and North Maharashtra to South India, while the Nashik-Dahanu route will connect Nashik to the world's 10th largest port, Vadhavan. The minister also emphasized plans to provide affordable travel for the underprivileged by launching 1250 general coaches, allowing passengers to travel 1000 kilometers for just 400 rupees.
