commuters. The new timetable will also see 24 trains departing from Parel station, 6 Thane trains extended to Kalyan, and the introduction of 9 new trains with revised timings. The last local train for Karjat will depart from CSMT at 12:12 AM, and the last local train for Kasara will depart at 12:08 AM. In addition, platform number 8 at Dadar station has been widened, and platforms 10 and 11 have been converted into 'double discharge' platforms, allowing passengers to board and alight from both sides of the local trains. The Central Railway currently operates 170 trains, with 138 in service. The new schedule is intended to manage the heavy passenger traffic on the Central Railway, which sees approximately 3.7 million commuters daily.
