more... ఈనాడు, విశాఖపట్నం: ఏళ్లుగా సేవలందించిన వాల్తేరు రైల్వే డివిజన్‌ కనుమరుగు కానున్నట్లు కనిపిస్తోంది. ఒడిశాలోని రాయగడ కేంద్రంగా కొత్త డివిజన్‌ ఏర్పాటుకు వేగంగా అడుగులు పడుతున్నాయి. డీఆర్‌ఎం కార్యాలయం భవనాలు, ఉద్యోగుల క్వార్టర్స్, ఇతర విభాగాల నిర్మాణానికి ఈ నెల 24న తూర్పుకోస్తా రైల్వే ఇంజినీరింగ్ విభాగం టెండరు పిలిచింది. 125 ఎకరాల్లో నిర్మిండానికి అవసరమైన స్థలాన్ని ఇప్పటికే సిద్ధం చేశారు. ప్రస్తుతం ఒడిశాలో భాజపా ప్రభుత్వం ఉండడంతో ఈ ప్రక్రియ ఊపందుకుంది. విశాఖ కేంద్రంగా ఏర్పడే దక్షిణ కోస్తా జోన్‌ విషయంలో మాత్రం అతీగతీ కనిపించడం లేదు. వాల్తేరు డివిజన్‌ లేని విశాఖ రైల్వేజోన్‌ను కోల్పోతే అటు ఆదాయపరంగా, ఇటు ఉపాధి అవకాశాల్లోనూ తీవ్ర నష్టం జరుగుతుంది. విశాఖ కేంద్రంగా దక్షిణ కోస్తా జోన్‌ ఏర్పాటనేది రాష్ట్ర ప్రజల చిరకాల కోరిక. ఆ సమయంలో వాల్తేరు డివిజన్‌తో కూడిన జోన్‌ కావాలనేది ఇక్కడి ప్రజల డిమాండు. ఏటా వాల్తేరు డివిజన్‌కు రూ.పది వేల కోట్ల ఆదాయం వస్తుంది. ఇందులో రూ. 5 వేల కోట్లు కొత్తవలస-కిరండల్‌ (కేకే) రూటు నుంచే వస్తుంది. వాల్తేరు డివిజన్‌ లేకుండా రాయగడ డివిజన్‌ అమల్లోకి వస్తే జోన్‌ భారీగా ఆదాయం కోల్పోతుంది. అదే జరిగితే ప్రస్తుత కేకే లైను రాయగడ డివిజన్‌లోకి వెళ్తుంది. కొత్త డివిజన్‌ ఏర్పాటుకు యుద్ధప్రాతిపదికన ముందుకువెళ్తుండగా వాల్తేరు డివిజన్‌ ఉంటుందా.. లేదా అనేదానిపై స్థానికుల్లో ఆందోళన వ్యక్తమవుతోంది. జోన్‌ గురించి రైల్వే మంత్రి మాటల పూర్వకంగా చెబుతున్నారే తప్ప క్షేత్రస్థాయిలో ఏమీ జరగడం లేదన్న అసంతృప్తి రాష్ట్ర ప్రజల్లో నెలకొంది.
వాల్తేరు ఉద్యోగాల్లో కోత
రాయగడ కేంద్రంగా కొత్త డివిజన్‌ను ఏర్పాటు చేయనుండడంతో అక్కడ భారీగా కొత్త ఉద్యోగులను నియమించుకోనున్నారు. మెకానికల్, ఎలక్ట్రికల్, సిగ్నలింగ్‌ అండ్‌ టెలికం, ట్రాక్‌ నిర్వహణతో పాటు ఇతర అనుబంధ విభాగాల్లో వాటిని భర్తీ చేస్తారు. ఆ మేరకు అక్కడి యువతకు ఉపాధి అవకాశాలు దక్కనున్నాయి. ఇక వాల్తేరు డివిజన్‌ విషయానికి వస్తే కొత్త ఉద్యోగాలు లేకపోగా ఉన్న ఉద్యోగాలు పోతున్నాయి. వాల్తేరు డివిజన్‌లోని మెకానికల్ (డీజిల్‌ లోకోషెడ్‌), ఎలక్ట్రికల్, సిగ్నలింగ్‌ అండ్‌ టెలికం విభాగాల్లో 220 ఇంజినీరింగ్, ఇతర సాంకేతిక ఉద్యోగాల్లో కోత విధిస్తున్నారు. ఆ పోస్టులను సంబల్‌పూర్, కుర్దా డివిజన్‌కు సర్దుబాటు చేసేలా కసరత్తు మొదలుపెట్టారు. దీనికి సంబంధించిన ప్రకటన ఇప్పటికే వెలువడింది. వాల్తేరుకు చెందిన పోస్టులను తరలించడం, రాయగడ డివిజన్‌ నిర్మాణానికి టెండర్లు పిలవడం చూస్తుంటే జోన్‌ పేరుతో ఏపీకి తీవ్ర నష్టం జరిగేలా కనిపిస్తుందని ప్రజాసంఘాలు వాపోతున్నాయి.

They've already got the land ready for construction on 125 acres. With the BJP government in Odisha right now, this process is gaining momentum. But for the South Coast zone being set up with Visakhapatnam as its base, there's not much excitement. Losing the Visakhapatnam railway zone without the Waltheru division would hit hard both in income and job opportunities. Setting up a South Coast zone based out of Visakhapatnam is something the people have always wanted. At that time, they demanded a zone with the Waltheru division included. The Waltheru division brings in ten thousand crores every year, with five thousand crores just from the new migration-Kirandul (KK) route. If the Rayagada division comes without the Waltheru division, the zone will lose a ton of income. If that happens, the current KK line will shift to the Rayagada division. As the new division is being set up urgently, folks in the area are worried if the Waltheru division will still be around or not. People are feeling frustrated that while the railway minister says nice things about the zone, nothing's happening on the ground.
Waltheru jobs are on the line.
Since they're setting up a new division based in Rayagada, they plan to hire a bunch of new people there. They’ll fill positions in Mechanical, Electrical, Signaling and Telecom, Track maintenance, and other support departments. This means job opportunities for the youth there. But when it comes to the Waltheru division, new jobs are non-existent, and existing ones are being cut. They’re slashing 220 engineering and other tech jobs in the Mechanical (Diesel Loco Shed), Electrical, Signaling and Telecom departments at Waltheru. They've started the process to transfer those positions to Sambalpur and Kurda divisions. An announcement regarding this has already been made. As they're moving positions out of Waltheru and calling for tenders for the Rayagada division construction, civic groups are crying foul that this will seriously hurt AP under the name of the zone.

Isme se 5,000 crore sirf naye Valsal-Kirandul (KK) route se aata hai. Agar Valtheru Division nahi hota aur Rayagada Division ban gaya, to Zone ko bhari nafa hoga. Agar aisa hota hai, to KK line Rayagada Division mein chale jayegi. Naya division jaldi se banane ki taiyari ho rahi hai, par logon mein yeh soch hai ki Valtheru Division rahega ya nahi. Railway Minister ke kehne se unke beech kuch nahi ho raha hai aur log is par pareshan hain.
