Shoranur-Coimbatore (Palakkad division). Aerial surveys and soil testing are ongoing. The Railway Board will make the final decision based on economic feasibility. A third line would enable trains to travel at 160 kmph, improving existing services and enabling new ones. Currently, only Vande Bharat trains exceed 100 kmph in Kerala, with other trains limited to 80 kmph or even 50 kmph in some areas.
