Tunnel boring machines slow down to keep pace with station construction in Metro Rail’s phase II project

Chennai Metro Rail's Phase II project, connecting various parts of the city, has been underway for a few years. The project includes three corridors: Madhavaram to SIPCOT (corridor 3), Light House to Poonamallee (corridor 4), and Madhavaram to Sholinganallur (corridor 5). While tunneling has progressed well in many locations, especially in...

the Madhavaram to Taramani stretch of corridor 3, station construction has faced delays. This is due to the cancellation of bids for station construction in 2021, resulting in a delay in awarding contracts. Consequently, tunnel boring machines (TBM) have either been slowed down or completed their work and are waiting to enter the stations. The TBMs in stretches like Ayanavaram to Otteri, Ayanavaram to Perambur, and Chetpet to Sterling Road are awaiting station completion to proceed. Other locations, such as Madhavaram High Road to Moolakadai and Greenways Road to Mandaveli, have had their TBMs slowed down due to the delay in station construction. These delays have pushed back the opening of the Madhavaram to Taramani stretch by over a year. CMRL officials are working to accelerate the station construction process.

Chennai Metro Rail ka Phase II project, city ke alag alag area ko connect karne ke liye, kuchh saalon se chal raha hai. Is project mein teen corridors hain: Madhavaram se SIPCOT (corridor 3), Light House se Poonamallee (corridor 4), aur Madhavaram se Sholinganallur (corridor 5). Tunnel banna ka kaam...

to bahut jagah pe aage badh gaya hai, khaas karke corridor 3 ke Madhavaram se Taramani stretch mein, par station ka construction late chal raha hai. Yeh 2021 mein station construction ke bids cancel hone ki wajah se hua hai, jisse contract award hone mein delay ho gaya. Isse tunnel boring machines (TBM) ya toh slow ho gayi hain ya unhone apna kaam khatam kar diya hai aur stations mein enter karne ka wait kar rahi hain. CMRL ke officials station construction ko jaldi karne ke liye koshish kar rahe hain.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
