The Southern Railway also recommended extending the Kanyakumari-Pune Jayanti Express to Mumbai and increasing the frequency of the Kochuveli-Kurla bi-weekly service to five days a week. To address the lack of trains from Alappuzha to Thiruvananthapuram, the Dhanbad-Alleppey Express is being recommended for extension to Kochuveli. The Parasuram Express will be extended from Nagercoil to Kanyakumari to increase coach capacity. Two trains ending their journey in Ernakulam may be extended to Kottayam. The Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram Superfast Express will terminate at Kochuveli to avoid delays for the Vanchinadu and Intercity trains to Thiruvananthapuram. Kerala has requested Vandebharat sleeper trains from Thiruvananthapuram to Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi but the Southern Railway hasn't yet provided a list of Vandebharat sleeper trains.
