AMC to trim BRTS-obstructing metro pillar in Akhbarnagar

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) have been at odds over a P-355 pillar on the Vasna-Motera metro corridor that blocked one side of the BRTS lane in Akhbarnagar for almost a year. The blockage caused BRTS buses to take a detour, bypassing the Akhbanagar BRTS...

stand. After a year of correspondence, the two agencies agreed to shave six inches off the pillar to allow buses to pass through. This issue stemmed from damage caused to civic utility lines during the metro rail construction in 2021. These included stormwater lines, drainage lines, and catchpits, some of which were diverted, particularly those in front of MLA Shailesh Parmar's residence. A total of 15 stormwater and drainage lines were repaired, including those in Thaltej village and between Naranpura and Sanghvi Crossings. Other areas affected by the metro construction include the 132 Foot Ring Road through Akhbarnagar, Subhash Bridge Circle, Sabarmati Powerhouse to Motera trijunction, and Motera village to Tapovan Circle. This incident highlights a lack of coordination between AMC and GMRC and the wastage of public funds.

Akhbarnagar mein BRTS lane ko Vasna-Motera metro corridor ka P-355 pillar ne almost ek saal se block kar rakha tha. Isse BRTS buses ko detour lena pada aur Akhbanagar BRTS stand se bypass karna pada. AMC aur GMRC ne ek saal tak correspondence karne ke baad, pillar se chhe inch...

kaat kar buses ke pass hone ka rasta saaf karne ka faisla kiya. Yeh issue 2021 mein metro rail construction ke dauraan civic utility lines ko damage hone se shuru hua. Isme stormwater lines, drainage lines, aur catchpits shamil the, jinme se kuchh ko divert kiya gaya, khaas kar MLA Shailesh Parmar ke ghar ke samne wale. Total 15 stormwater and drainage lines ko repair kiya gaya, jinme Thaltej village aur Naranpura se Sanghvi Crossing tak ki lines bhi shamil hain. Metro construction se 132 Foot Ring Road through Akhbarnagar, Subhash Bridge Circle, Sabarmati Powerhouse se Motera trijunction, aur Motera village se Tapovan Circle tak ke areas bhi affected hue. Yeh incident AMC aur GMRC ke beech coordination ki kami aur public funds ke wastage ko highlight karta hai.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
