"Behold the majestic WAG-5HB locomotive, a true icon of Indian Railways. With its impressive design and reliable performance, this old electric goods locomotive has been serving the nation for decades. Developed in 1978 by Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, the WAG-5 class was built for heavy goods traffic across the broad gauge lines of India's railways. Standing for broad gauge, alternating current, goods traffic engine, 5th generation, this locomotive has a total of 1196 units built at CLW and BHEL between 1978 and 1998. Its sheer numbers make it the most numerous class of mainline electric locomotive until the arrival of its successor, the WAG-7. As a railfan, seeing a WAG-5HB in action is a rare treat and a glimpse into the glorious past of India's railway history."
