Train set is a much better concept than loco hauled train and help a lot in increasing the average speed, riding quality, sectional capacity etc.

Fault in a single coach lead to withdrawal of train set from operation and the train set has to be sent to maintenance maintenance workshop. Where as in conventional loco hauled train, the faulty coach is detached and the train proceeds for journey.

Hence the train sets demand a very high level of standards and discipline in operation & maintenance. Nothing has been heard to make adequate upgradation of operation & maintenence practices in IR.

Planning is very important activity and must not be neglected. Otherwise we may see very poor availability of the proposed train sets which may lie parked in Maintenance sheds quite often. A similar example is of LBH coaches, even after 2 decades of presence of LHB coaches, IR is still struggling with SG version of coaches or HOG locos and is forced to commit a cardinal mistake of attaching generator cars in normal express trains.
