PNR Surprises:
As some may have noted, a couple of days back, a new subtab within the PNR forum - Surprises - was introduced. This subtab lists those PNRs which turned out surprisingly vis-a-vis the majority prediction. For instance, if the majority predicted "Confirmed" for a low WL number like WL#1, the ticket remained at WL#1 till charting time - this is a surprise!! This feature may be useful for historical analysis as well as to understand some of the logic for PNR advancement.
This subtab evolved as a result of a short...

He said that short sections of a long journey, say Karnataka Express, may sometimes advance rapidly because of quota seats being freed up. He cited an example where one such PNR for a short hop had a WL of 112 just 2 days before journey. Everyone predicted WL, whereas he had a gut feeling of Confirmed based on the above theory. And it indeed turned out to be Confirmed. (Jitesh, please post the Entry# of that PNR, for reference purposes).
The purpose of the new subtab is to allow our members to gain some deeper insight into PNR confirmation processes. Also, this is to encourage our frequent predictors to apply deep insights, instead of conventional logic.
As with all other features, this new subtab will evolve based on feedback and usage. Also, bugs will be fixed when encountered.
Thanks.
