************ WAP-7 & WAG-9 ARE THE BEST 3-PHASER ON INDIAN TRACKS & INDIAN SOIL ******
As per the Condition of the Tracks of Indian Railway I think WAP-7 is the most suitable Passenger Loco(3-Phase) & WAG-9 is the most suitable Goods Loco(3-Phase)
This conclusion I have drawn from my experience. WAP-5 , is no doubt a very HIGH SPEED Loco which

is mentioned in /blog/post/1794353 but if seen from the viewpoint of Track Condition & Soil Condition of our Country then no doubt WAP-7 & WAG-9 are the most Suitable Ones.
CLW now modifies Software of WAP-7 to improve it's Adhesion Control which is a Commendable Move. Rather more improvement we want both in WAP-7 & WAG-9 to increase it's adaptability on IR Tracks. If possible WAP-7D model also can be experimented by CLW.(Which previously withdrawn as the Loco Body was found Light)
Opinions are welcome !!!
NB: PLEASE DON'T MISUNDERSTAND WAP-5 IS THE SPEEDKING BUT WAP-7 & WAG-9 IS FIT FOR ENTIRE COUNTRY WITH THE BETTER ADHESHION CONTROL MECHANISM & MANY OTHER PLUS POINTS AS COMPARED TO WAP-5.

Aur WAP5 IR ke R&D department ko rule kar raha hai!! :D
The wobbly production figures indicate that only. It'll stabilize as the days pass. It's all set to get 7775 kVA transformer as well.
Extensive research is on these locos now. All this adhesion improvement software will be given to WAP5 locos also. Pakka milega. I was trying to confirm when exactly they'll start working :). IR has got so many plans regarding their usage (like MU).

Bingo!
Problem with IR is this - they couldn't learn how to get maximum output from WAP5. This is a fact.
Production was an issue too, in the past. Even now, the situation hasn't changed much. Clearly the 5th version of WAP series is the "most advanced" loco of IR at present, like WAG6 was more advanced compared to WAG7 and WAG8, till WAG9 showed up. IR had difficulties in making its hurth coupling in India. They made P5 with a plain body shell (like WAP7) rather than the fluted shell used

in original ABB locos (I personally prefer them with fluted shell). Why?
As many senior RFs pointed out : WAP5 is a very capable loco, just that IR could not not make good use of them.

What really impresses me while Durontos (SD & HD) have WAP-4 to content with my hometown daily transporters Coalfield & Black Diamond express have WAP-7 almost everyday with WAP-4 as offlink for rare case.

Coalfield and black diamond are trains with aggressive stoppage patterns. Where SD has a light LHB rake which can be easily managed by P4, only issue with SD is that it isn't getting the amount of clearance it is supposed to get, remember WAP4 is a very capable loco, and a reliable one, it is only underestimated like its nothing.
The fastest premium train of IR ie 22913/4 has SD type e2e avg, but still it has managed its scheduled with offlink P4s, so what's the bug fuss.
Even HD has a less

loaded rake than traditional ICF and it used to get ontime until few trains got better mps and clearance than it. If it is in any way possible, ER can swap its rake with 12323 biweekly and provide HD 130, then the train would again be back on its toes

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
