New Delhi | Passengers travelling in Shatabdi trains running across the country will soon be able to enjoy their favourite programmes and films .Indian Railways has decided to install LCD Screen in front of every seat in Shatabdi trains . According to Railway Sources , in the beginning this facility will be available in Shatabdi running between New Delhi and Chandigarh. This is being started on experimental basis between New Delhi-Chandigarh and will be implemented in all Shatabdis across the country if a good response is received.

Railways will not take any additional charges for this facility. For experimental use of this facility , initially it was decided to install in one coach but afterwards it was decided for the whole train. According to railway sources , the cost of installing LCD screens in front of every seat in the whole train is estimated to be 5 Crores . Railways will reimburse this cost through advertisements. LCD Screens will be installed in Shatabdi trains on lines of Taiwan trains . Railways have ordered the LCD Screens from Taiwan and maintenance responsibility has also been given to Taiwan-based company.

How LCD Screens will work

Passenger has to enter the PNR Number of his ticket in the LCD Screeen installed in front of his seat . The LCD Screen will start as soon as PNR Number is entered. After that ,Passengers can avail the benefits of this facility through available options . Passengers can take earphones from Railway Personnel , charges will be borne by passengers.

According to news from Sources , Railways is seriously thinking to evolve it as PPP Model to implement this facility across the country . Sources say that by end of December/ First week of January , Railways may start the work plan of this facility
