Tirupparankundram is one of the famous adobes of Lord Murugan (Karthikeya/Subramanya). It is suppossed to be the place where Lord devendra married off his daughter Devayani/Devasena to Murugan the son of Lord Shiva, as a gift for winning the demon king soorapadhman at Tiruchendur.
This temple is also located in a hill similar to other Lord Murugan temples, but is carved out in a cave out of the rocky hill-the structure of the temple itself makes the trip to the temple worthwhile
