Contai is not exactly the local name of Kanthi. It is just the old name of Kanthi from the British era. The sole idea of keeping this local name was to avoid any controversy when a particular station has an official name, but it is called by some other popular local name.
In my opinion, that logic doesn't seem to be valid here. The station is situated in Kanthi town and is known by the same name.
