A guide for inter-terminal travel in Kolkata.
HWH-SDAH / SDAH-HWH:
If you alighting at Howrah jn. , and wish to go sealdah station , then opt prepaid taxi. The taxi counter and fare is under complete control of Howrah Police and they will help you for alloting the taxi to safety. But i beware you , there are two prepaid counters and both are always in long queue. Instead you can pre-book your taxi by this Howrah police website- etaxi.howrahcitypolice.in/

would be much more beneficial and time saving. The fare from Howrah to Sealdah will be around Rs 100.
Lots of buses are also present from Howrah Bus depot which is at the starting point of howrah bridge. Ask anyone about sealdah bus and board it. Hardly takes 15 min (without traffic;may even take 1 hr with traffic) for this journey (The bus drivers in Kolkata are seriously very rash drivers). The buses will drop you on MG road near a flyover. Just walk few Metres below the flyover and you will reach Sealdah. If you have lots of baggage , then don't take bus. Conductors don't like passengers with lots of luggage.
There is NO direct railway connectivity for these Terminals.

This station is situated in the middle of the city. So, most of the sites are easily accessible from here. You can start with the nearest place which is rather a rarely visited place. This is a church near Sealdah Main.
Around Dharmatlalla, there many places to visit. You can take a glimpse at the Shaheed Minar and at the Mecca of Cricket Eden Gardens. Besides, visit St. Paul's Cathedral and the famous National Museum and Victoria Memorial (don't return from its front garden; visit the inside too).
Take a stroll along Red

Road and Strand Road which is between Ganga and Fort William (eastern HQ of army, not a fort these days and unaccessible for civilians). Walk up to Princep Ghat. Take a boat ride. At the opposite side of the river, in Howrah, Belur Moth is quite a place to visit.
Near Belgachhia, the sparkling Jain temple of Parshanath (locally known as Pareshnath) should be visited. Visit Science City at Saltlake. Visit Botanical garden (biggest of its kind) at Shibpur (Howrah), Birla Temple and Kalighat Temple in south Kolkata, Dakshineshwar Temple at north of Kolkata etc.
There are more places in Kolkata which lesser known like Horticulture garden, Marble Palace on Muktarambabu Street, Zoo at Alipore (not so good in present time, though not the worst), Nikko Park (joy ride) in Salt Lake etc.
And for the RFs, must visit the railway museum beside the HWH station.

If you eventually got to move from HWH then why would you go to SDAH instead which is horribly congested and MG Road , CR Avenue in between...best is to go to Park Steet or Esplanade area...100's of options are waiting there !!
