that morning, locals had sighted the elephants in rural areas near Potka, but they moved towards the Haldipokhar railway tracks after being chased away. This incident highlights the ongoing concern of elephant deaths due to train collisions on the Tatanagar-Chakulia, Chaibasa, and Chandil-Muri rail lines. The railway authorities have been reducing train speeds and continuously blowing the train horn in elephant-prone areas to mitigate the risk. This was the first sighting of elephants near the Haldipokhar station tracks, prompting station staff, train personnel, and track maintenance workers to remain vigilant throughout Saturday night. Train speeds remained reduced and the loud horn continued to be used.

Railway Setting Operating Department narrowly escaped the incident. Blood samples of the driver and setting operating personnel have been taken. An investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of the derailment. Fortunately, no railway lines were affected and no injuries were reported. However, a committee has been formed to investigate the incident. The derailed engine was removed after five hours. The incident did not affect the Muri-Tata and Muri-Ranchi railway lines, and all trains continued to run smoothly.
