The next phase involves the stretch between Sanawad and Omkareshwar Road. The line is being constructed as part of the preparation for the upcoming Simhastha 2028, expected to draw large crowds to Omkareshwar. The plan also includes connecting Omkareshwar to Trimbakeshwar, another Jyotirlinga, under the Prime Minister Jyotirlinga Corridor project. This connection will facilitate easier access for devotees to both Jyotirlingas. Work is also underway to expand the Khandwa station yard to accommodate the increased train traffic.
