The situation further worsened when a freight train engine failed between Sithouli and Sandalpura, leading to a halt in train movement between Gwalior and Dholpur. The incident occurred at around 8:00 PM when a loaded freight train heading from Gwalior to Jhansi encountered engine failure. As no other engine was readily available, trains coming from the opposite direction were stopped at Gwalior, Rairu, Morena, and Dholpur. Eventually, an engine from Antri station was sent to haul the freight train forward. The track was obstructed for approximately 1 hour and 5 minutes, causing delays to trains such as the Shridham Express (1 hour) and Rajdhani Express (30 minutes).
