The introduction of the Tamil Nadu Express marked a new era in rail transportation, offering a faster and more comfortable journey for passengers traveling between South India and Delhi. The development of this express train was inspired by Japan's Bullet Trains and other high-speed trains in Europe. The Indian Railways aimed to increase speeds of express trains from 100 kmph to 160 kmph, leading to the introduction of the Rajdhani Expresses between Howrah-New Delhi and Mumbai-New Delhi, operating at speeds of 130 km/h and 120 km/h respectively. However, after the departure of B.C. Ganguly, the high-speed project was abandoned.

Additionally, Train No 07193 Secunderabad – Kollam Express, scheduled to depart from Secunderabad at 6:40 pm on specific dates in September, October, and November, is fully cancelled. The corresponding return train, Train No 07194 Kollam – Secunderabad Express, leaving Kollam at 02.30 am on specific dates in September, October, and November, is also fully cancelled.
