Until 1987,Slip COaches of Godavari was the only rail connectivity for People of Kakinada to the state capital.the demand had Forced Railway Board to introduce a new train Between Kakinada-Hyderabad.in 1987-88 Railway Budget,the train was introduced.

Started running from October 3rd 1987,Kakinada Port Secunderabad jn Gouthami Express was named after Tributory river Gouthami.
the train got SF Status Along with Godavari Express in October 2006.both Gouthami & Godavari Are Considered as Sister trains.

Gouthami SF Express(12737/38) Belongs to Vijayawada Division of South Central Railways.base Maintainance at Kakinada Port(COA).
the train is considered to be as lifeline of both East & west Godavari Districts.

12737 Covers 563 Kms in 10 hours 15 minutes at avg Speed of 56 KMPH,18 Halts.
