The Railway Police suspects an influx of counterfeit currency from Nepal during the elections. As a preventative measure, strict surveillance has been ordered, particularly at Jaynagar and Raxual stations. Railroad police officers have been instructed to engage in a ‘stop and question’ campaign with individuals of Nepalese origin and gather comprehensive details about their entry into India. A coordination meeting was held via video conferencing on Monday under the leadership of the Railway SP, involving the Sitamarhi SP, SSB, RPF, railway police station officials, and intelligence agencies. The meeting yielded suggestions from various agencies and the SSB that the Railway SP implemented. The participants in the meeting included the Railway Police, the RPF’s Divisional Security Commissioner Samastipur, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Madhubani, the Commandants of the SSB’s 18th Battalion Rajnagar, 20th Battalion Sitamarhi, 21st Battalion Bagaha, 44th Battalion Narkatiaganj, 47th Battalion Raxual, 48th Battalion Jaynagar, 51st Battalion Sitamarhi, 56th Battalion Bathnaha, 65th Battalion Bettiah, 71st Battalion Motihari, and representatives from Bachpan Bachao Andolan, the Servo Prayas Sanstha, the Railway Police Superintendents of Samastipur, Bettiah, and Samastipur, the Railway Police Inspectors of Samastipur, Sugauli, Narkatiaganj, the Railway Station Officers of Narkatiaganj, Raxual, Sitamarhi, Jaynagar, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Motihari, Bettiah, and the Circle Inspector. The Railway Police has been tasked with intensifying checks of individuals of Nepalese origin at border stations, conducting ‘stop and question’ campaigns to monitor suspicious individuals, coordinating with NGOs to rescue child laborers from traffickers, maintaining close communication with the GRP, RPF, SSB, local district police, and intelligence agencies, and conducting awareness campaigns in border areas.
