The incident took place on July 28, 2005, at the Harpalganj crossing between Singramu and Hariharpur stations while the train was travelling from Rajgir, Bihar to New Delhi. This incident was a part of a larger terrorist conspiracy with a total of seven individuals involved. The court had already sentenced two other terrorists, Ronnie and Babu Bhai, to death in 2016. One of the accused, Dr. Saeed, is deceased, and two others remain at large.
