Upon noticing the elephants, the Chakradharpur Railway Division halted train operations. The Forest Department team reached the spot and drove the elephants back into the forest. Train operations resumed at around 11:30 PM with a speed limit of 10 km/h. However, the elephants returned to the track, forcing the railway to halt operations again until morning. Train operations resumed at 5 AM after the elephants left. The railway has imposed a speed limit of 10 km/h on the track where the elephants were sighted. On October 15th, a young elephant was killed by a goods train near Bandamunda A Cabin, and another calf was severely injured and sent to Nandankanan for treatment. It is believed that the elephants are returning to the railway track in search of their calf.

Subah 5 baje haathiyon ka jhund jungle mein chala gaya. Subah 5 baje se trainon ka chalana shuru hua aur in trains ko unke destination ki taraf bheja gaya. Jahaan haathiyon ka jhund aaya tha, railway ne wahaan train ki speed control kar di hai aur 10 kilometer ki speed se train chalane ka aadesh jaari kiya hai. 15 October ko, Bandamunda A Cabin ke paas railway track par haathiyon ka jhund aa gaya tha, jismein ek haathi ka bachcha malgadi ki chapet mein aa gaya tha, jisse uski maut wahi par ho gayi thi. Dusra haathi ka bachcha bahut ghayal ho gaya tha, jise van vibhag ne Nandankanan mein ilaaj ke liye bheja tha. Is haadse mein ek aur haathi ghayal ho gaya tha, lekin baad mein woh jhund ke saath jungle mein chala gaya tha. Local logo ka kehna hai ki postmortem ke baad, van vibhag ne haathi ke bachche ko railway track ke paas jungle mein dafna diya tha. Is ghatna ke baad se, haathiyon ka jhund bar bar apne bachche ki talash mein railway track ki taraf aa raha hai.
