While electrification between Pune and Miraj is already complete, the incomplete electrification between Belgaum and Miraj forced many Bangalore-Pune express trains to run on diesel engines, which were then switched to electric engines in Pune. The completion of electrification on the Pune-Londa route means all express trains between Pune-Miraj-Bangalore will run on electric engines. The doubling of the Pune-Miraj section is ongoing and expected to be completed in a year. This will benefit passengers with faster travel times. After the doubling of the Pune-Miraj line is complete, new express trains will be introduced from Miraj to South and North India.
