he was hit by a train, but it is unclear if it was suicide or an accident. He had left his home on Thursday, May 9th, stating he was returning from Shanti Nagar. When he didn't return, his family searched for him and reported him missing at the Chakulia police station on Saturday. His motorcycle was found at the Chakulia station. Mahato worked as a driver, transporting students to the Chakulia Modern Convent School. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, a son, two elder brothers, and a younger brother. He was the third of four brothers. The Ghatshila Railway Police took possession of the body and sent it to the Ghatshila sub-divisional hospital for post-mortem. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to his family. Social worker Kaliram Sharma helped in retrieving the body.

Mahato Chakulia Modern Convent School ke bachchon ko gaadi se school tak le jaane ka kaam karta tha. Unka family me ek wife, ek beti, ek beta, do bade bhai, and ek chhota bhai hai. Woh char bhaiyon mein teesre number pe the. Ghatshila Railway Police ne shav ko apne kabze mein leke Ghatshila sub-divisional hospital mein post-mortem ke liye bheja. Post-mortem ke baad, shav ko unke family ko de diya gaya. Social worker Kaliram Sharma ne shav ko uthane mein madad ki.
