Kerala's First Double-Decker Train Undertakes Successful Trial Run On Pollachi-Palakkad Route

Kerala's first double-decker train underwent a trial run on the Pollachi-Palakkad route on Wednesday. This trial run was conducted in preparation for the launch of the Uday Double-Decker Superfast Train between Bengaluru and Coimbatore, aiming to address the shortage of trains on the electrified route. The trial run began at 8...

AM from Coimbatore, reaching Palakkad Junction at 11:05 AM and Palakkad Town Railway Station at 11:25 AM. The train returned to Palakkad Junction at 11:50 AM and departed for Coimbatore, arriving at 2:30 PM. This AC chair car is part of the Indian Railways' first Double-Decker Express series. The exact train schedule is yet to be determined. The Salem and Palakkad divisions collaborated to conduct the trial run on Wednesday, as the Uday Express is not operational on that day. The Pollachi Train Passengers Welfare Association had previously requested the Southern Railway to extend the train to Palani, citing the need for a direct connection for IT professionals from Kinathukadavu and traders from Pollachi, Udumalpet, and Palani who work in Bengaluru. The association's joint secretary, T Krishna Balaji, highlighted the inconvenience faced by residents of Pollachi, Udamalpet, Palani, and Bengaluru who have to travel to Coimbatore, Tiruppur, and Dindigul stations due to the lack of a direct train. He also advocated for converting the double-decker coaches to standard ICF/LHB coaches.

Kerala ka pehla double-decker train ka trial run Wednesday ko Pollachi-Palakkad route pe hua. Trial run Coimbatore se 8...

AM pe shuru hua, aur 11:05 AM pe Palakkad Junction aur 11:25 AM pe Palakkad Town Railway Station pe pahuncha. Train 11:50 AM pe Palakkad Junction pe vapas aaya aur Coimbatore ke liye chala, aur 2:30 PM pe pahuncha. Ye AC chair car Indian Railways ke pehle Double-Decker Express series ka part hai. Train ka schedule abhi tak decide nahi hua hai. Salem aur Palakkad divisions ne Wednesday ko trial run karne ke liye saath kaam kiya, kyonki Uday Express us din chalte nahi hai. Pollachi Train Passengers Welfare Association ne pehle Southern Railway se train ko Palani tak extend karne ka request kiya tha, kyonki Kinathukadavu ke IT professionals aur Pollachi, Udumalpet aur Palani ke traders jo Bengaluru mein kaam karte hain, unke liye direct connection ki jarurat hai. Association ke joint secretary, T Krishna Balaji ne ye baat highlighted ki Pollachi, Udamalpet, Palani aur Bengaluru ke residents ko direct train na hone ke karan Coimbatore, Tiruppur aur Dindigul stations tak travel karna padta hai. Unhone double-decker coaches ko standard ICF/LHB coaches mein convert karne ka bhi support kiya.
