The new trains will undergo trials and require clearance from the Commissioner of Railway Safety before being put into public use. Once operational, the frequency of service is expected to decrease from 20-25 minutes to 5 minutes. The MMRDA merged the Monorail Project Implementation Unit with the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation in January 2024 to revive the financially struggling Mumbai Monorail, which has been incurring losses estimated at Rs 529 crore in 2023-24. However, a commuter activist, Jitendra Gupta, expressed concern about the monorail's route between Chembur and Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk, stating that it lacks significant passenger traffic.
