The railway plans to begin work on transforming Tatanagar station into a world-class facility by inviting tenders in April. The ₹534 crore project will involve a revised main road route, a flyover to the Khasmahal Railway Hospital, and the demolition of the existing station building to accommodate new platforms and a portico-parking area. This expansion will extend the station towards the Gudri Bazaar in the west, the Loco Crossing in the east, and the warehouse road towards the Burmamines Second Gate. The DRM directed the architect to make several changes to the plan. The railway plans to clear shops and encroachments in Gudri Bazaar and demolish dozens of quarters, with plans to relocate leaseholders. The DRM expressed satisfaction with the land inspection and ordered the immediate removal of encroachments. After inspecting the station, the DRM conducted a meeting at the Electric Loco Training Centre to discuss safe train operations and provided necessary instructions.
