The railway administration urges passengers to purchase tickets before traveling and promotes awareness through the slogan 'Take a train ticket and travel with dignity'. In addition to regular checks, the Tejaswini Squad and other measures have resulted in the apprehension of over 12.74 lakh ticketless passengers, contributing to the over INR 100 crore penalty collection. In January 2024, 9,548 ticketless passengers were caught on the Konkan Railway, leading to a fine of INR 2,17,97,102. Similarly, Central Railway caught 85 ticketless passengers on Tuesday, resulting in a fine of INR 33,340.
