Dhaka-Mawa-Bhanga, connecting Munshiganj, Madaripur, and Shariatpur to the capital, Khulna-Mongla, connecting Mongla Port to the rest of the country, and Akhaura-Agartala, potentially increasing regional trade and people-to-people contact. The project includes 23 new stations, but will see a phased implementation with some stations opening later. While cost and time overruns are common for railway projects, the expansion is expected to significantly boost Bangladesh Railway's capacity and connectivity.
