Verma holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Prayagraj, and an MBA from IIM Kolkata. He also has a diploma in Public Procurement from the Indian Railways Institute of Logistics and Materials Management and a PG Diploma in Alternate Dispute Resolution System from the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research. After assuming charge, Verma reviewed the remaining railway electrification works with senior officers and chief project directors and instructed them to expedite the completion of projects.
