While more transmissible, it's not causing severe illness or hospitalizations, with symptoms including fever, cough, cold, sore throat, runny nose, and body ache. Dr. Guleria encourages people to follow COVID protocols, including hand hygiene, avoiding crowds, and wearing masks. Dr. N.K. Arora, President of INSACOG, stated that 22 cases of JN.1 have been reported in the last 8 weeks, but there's no evidence of rapid spread. He also mentioned that the symptoms are common and don't differentiate it from other variants. Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj acknowledged that JN.1 is contagious but causes mild symptoms. The Delhi government is prepared to handle the situation and will increase genomic sequencing surveillance. They are also reviewing oxygen cylinders, ventilators, and other essential resources.
