* It looks like the Kerala Govt is opting to go for a straighter alignment where the 575 km long current alignment shall be reduced to just 510 KMS. Probably the alignment will go via Alleppy and shall not touch Shoranur.
* Going for a fully elevated corridor with only 180kmph top speed at cost of Rs. 92 crores/km is a bit surprising. Today 180kmph is hardly called a SHS, they could have gone for speed range of 200-250kmph which is optimum speed band SHS. Cost increase drastically for 300 kmph & above HST.

more... Mumbai-Ahmedabad 350 kmph max speed HST is costing 192 crore/KM which is pretty high because of the condition that substantial sourcing has to be done from Japan. In case of competitive bidding, it will be much lower than this.
* The current journey of 10-12 hrs between TVC & Kasargod could be brought down to about 4-5 hrs depending on the number of stops, but the land acquisition is going to be very tough task.
