Multiple landslips in Darjeeling hills; toy train services affected

Heavy rainfall in northern West Bengal triggered multiple landslides in Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts, causing damage to houses and disrupting toy train services from Siliguri to Darjeeling. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued flood and landslide warnings for the affected areas, predicting continued light to medium rainfall in several districts. Residents like Kishore Pradhan, who were displaced by floods in 2023, protested against the lack of rehabilitation and compensation, blaming NHPC's work on the Teesta river for exacerbating the situation. Teesta river water levels are above danger levels due to incessant rains, causing flooding in homes. Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb distributed relief materials to flood-affected areas.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) ne flood aur landslide ke warnings jaari kiye hain aur aane waale dino mein bhi barish hone ki sambhavna hai. 2023 mein floods ki wajah se apne ghar kho chukne Kishore Pradhan jaise logon ne rehabilitation aur compensation na milne par protest kiya hai. Unhone Teesta river par NHPC ke kaam ko is problem ke liye zimmedar bataya hai. Teesta river ka water level bahut zyada hai aur iski wajah se logon ke ghar pani mein dub gaye hain. Siliguri ke Mayor Goutam Deb ne flood affected areas mein jaake relief materials distribute kiye hain.
