total of 24,657 crore rupees, will be completed by 2030-31 under the 'PM-Gati Shakti' plan. Key projects include a 26km long Bikramshila-Katareah new double line with a bridge over the Ganges near Bhagalpur, costing 2,549 crore rupees. The new rail lines will improve connectivity for 14 districts across seven states, add 900 km to the existing network, and create 64 new stations. They will also facilitate transportation of goods, reduce carbon emissions, and connect UNESCO World Heritage site Ajanta Caves. To bolster the railway board's autonomy and efficiency, the government has introduced a bill to grant it statutory powers. The prime minister highlighted the projects' contribution to infrastructure development, trade, and job creation.
