Over four decades ago, people in Aurahi gave up their land with the promise of development. However, the promises of better infrastructure remain unfulfilled. The construction of the Bagmati river embankments and a railway line led to the acquisition of thousands of acres of land. While the railway line now includes...

a halt at Benipur, it remains inaccessible due to the lack of connecting roads. Aurahi, a backward area, remains deprived of basic infrastructure. It is considered the most backward area in the district as it is still deprived of road and rail connectivity. The lack of a direct road connection increases the travel time from Aurahi to Muzaffarpur to 55 km, while a direct road would reduce it to 28 km. The land acquired for these projects has been largely unused, with the area inside the embankment becoming a breeding ground for wild animals. Around 20,000 people were displaced due to the embankment construction, and about 12,000 still face risks by commuting to their old homes. Many residents have migrated to other districts. Local politicians have been accused of neglecting the development of the area. The proposed Bhabhnagama-Atarar bridge project has been stalled after only the land measurement. Despite promises from elected representatives, the situation remains unchanged. The MLA, Ramsurat Rai, claims efforts are ongoing for road and rail connectivity, while the MP, Ajay Nishad, advocates for rail connectivity and says efforts are ongoing to address the problems faced by the people.

Benipur halt hai, lekin us tak pahunchne ke liye koi rasta nahi hai. In projects ke liye li gayi zameen ka zyadaatar hissa unused hai, aur tatbandh ke andar wala area jangli janwaro ka basera ban gaya hai. Tatbandh ke nirman se kareeb 20,000 logon ko displacement ka samna karna pada, aur kareeb 12,000 log aaj bhi apne purane ghar jaane ke liye apni jaan khatre mein daalte hai. MLA, Ramsurat Rai, ka kehna hai ki road aur rail connectivity ke liye prayas jaari hain, aur MP, Ajay Nishad, railway connectivity ke liye zor dete hain aur kehte hain ki logon ko aane wali pareshanion ko dur karne ke liye prayas jaari hain.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
