According to the railways, over 15 makeshift houses were demolished. On June 5th, the engineering department had already demolished 10 makeshift houses during a previous encroachment removal drive. The new running room project threatens to displace other makeshift houses and shanties. The railway officials have warned locals to vacate the area. The railway is also demolishing quarters near the Tatanagar station to build a crew guard lobby. Additionally, plans are underway to remove encroachments in Traffic Colony, Guddi Bazar, and Engineering Colony as part of the Tatanagar station redevelopment project.
