Shatabdi express is daytime intercity and runs on railway track but this Shatabdi is a sleeper bus running on expressway from Kanpur to New Delhi. Just searched about this bus and found they are 50 services listed from Kanpur to New Delhi in which 20 are reliable making 720 berth capacity and demand accounts to one more night train from Kanpur. From Lucknow they are alteast 50 realible buses available in night. If IR concentrates only on VB is short sectors of 500km then with the development of expressway network in UP the night traffic will go to road sector. 5 years back train is the only reliable travel option but after opening of Agra, Yamuna, and Purvachal expressway road sector has picked up from Kanpur, Lucknow, Gorakpur and EasternUP closer to new delhi by night.
