Despite the SWR's initial commitment to handover the land within a few weeks, they have been delaying the process, citing technicalities and a potential six-track rail line project in the area. The project, which is expected to take 40 months to complete, has seen delays due to land handover issues. The project's tender was opened on July 4th and was awarded to Larsen & Toubro, Afcons, Intarvo, and Dineshchandra R. Agarwal Infracon. The project aims to construct 46.285 kilometers of rail line, including 8.96 kilometers of elevated track and 37.92 kilometers of ground-level track. The project also includes a depot at Silk Board and 19 stations, including four elevated and 15 ground level stations.
