NEW JALPAIGURI SHATABDI EXPRESS
The ever aggressive train that’s a fascination for many railfans in West Bengal.
Often proclaimed as the Shaan-e-NFR , NJP Shatabdi Express , introduced in 2012 as many a heart-throb for speed loving people out there. Come and encounter the wrath of this mighty EMD Hauled Train as it rampages at a maximum speed of 130kmph through the Howrah – Bardhamman Chord Line.
The #12041/42 train runs from New Jalpaiguri to Howrah in West Bengal, being an intra-state Shatabdi, covering a distance of 566kms in a time span of 8 hrs with an average speed of 70km/hr. It’s been given an extremely aggressive and tight schedule and runs 6 days a week excluding Sunday.
This train receives good patronage and it has been recently decided to increase the number of coaches by 1 due to high demand, the total count being 9 AC Chair Car + 2 AC Executive Coaches along with 2 End-on-Generators.
It follows the route Bardhamman - Rampurhat – New Farakka – Malda Town – Kishanganj. The train belongs to North East Frontier Railways and a Siliguri based WDP-4/4B/4D is a fixed link of this train, since the whole of the route has not been electrified yet.
